Florida For Now

Pushing away on a hot day in May with a breeze that placates sense Looking for sign in the mirror behind the wall and the leering fence

The gulf is sultry in summer Effusion of sweat is a bummer And hurricanes roll And the wind takes its toll And I tend to get lost When I'm counting the cost Of leaving

So it's Florida for now, in a transient town I should just get used to this It's the closest I've got to bliss

I know what's coming, no sense in running this solstice is nothing new But her voice on the phone says I'm still alone and argument's wake, eschew

And my mood changes the weather I think next year will be better I'll move to the city Become famous and witty With the world as my clam I'll eat green eggs and ham with Sam I am

But it's Florida for now, in a transient town I should just get used to this It's the closest I've got to bliss

Corona and lime, I've got nothing but time to fester my torpid angst And that doesn't make sense but I'm drunker than piss and stonder that granite banks

But this is all for a reason Tilting changes the season And though the world is a blur There's more to this, I'm sure Than the thinking and drinking And smoking and choking And longing

But it's Florida for now, in a trasient town And I'll have to get used to this It's all that I know of bliss
